NOTE: All visitors must present photo identification upon registering for visitation and each person wishing to visit must arrive 15 minutes prior to the visitation time they wish to visit. Visitors must be listed on the inmates authorized visitation list. (The inmate is allowed to place three (3) blood or marriage relatives on his/her visitation list.) (The inmate’s children can visit with the inmate.) Proof of marriage and/or birth certificates or court orders may be requested. Inmates serving time on weekends are not allowed visitors as they are not incarcerated over 2 days at a time.
 

Authorized Property
Inmates may have the following property delivered to the jail within the first 48 hours of incarceration in the Giles County Jail.

White Boxer underwear (NO BRIEFS) 5 pair
White ankle socks (NO TUBE SOCKS) 5 pair
White loose leaf paper (NO BINDERS, TABLETS OR CARDBOARD) 1 pack
Blue or Black “Bic” type see through ink pens (NO GEL INK, NO PENCILS, NO MARKERS) 1 pack
1 Box of unopened envelopes (white only)
Stamps – unlimited quantity

Female inmates may have the following additional items:
5 pair of bloomer type underwear white cotton ONLY.
5 white sports bras with NO UNDERWIRE.
All items will be searched. Contraband seized and charges may be filed against the person delivering the items. ITEMS MUST BE DELIVERED IN PERSON TO A CORRECTIONS OFFICER, DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED IN THE LOBBY.

Inmate Commissary

After inmate is admitted to jail he/she will be assigned a number that can be used to deposit money in his/her commissary account. The commissary account is available to inmates for the purchase of various items to include hygiene items. Persons may go to Http://www.GovPayNow.com or call 1-888-277-2535 to deposit money in an inmates account. There is also a kiosk cash/credit/debit machine located in the jail lobby to deposit funds into inmates commissary account. DO NOT MAIL FUNDS TO THE JAIL.

 

Inmate Telephone
Each inmate has the privilege of using a telephone while incarcerated and all calls are collect. The corrections officers are not allowed to deliver messages so please refrain from asking. At times an inmates phone privileges may be suspended for violating jail rules. Inmate phone calls may be recorded and/or monitored.

You may pre-pay phone time by calling Global Tel-Link at 1-877-650-4249. Global Tel-Link hours of operation are 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. Monday through Friday and 8:00 A.M. through 5:00 P.M. on Saturday. This number should also be used to contact Global Tel-Link for customer service issues with inmate phone calls.

 

Inmate Mail
Inmates may receive letters and authorized property through the United States Postal Service or any other authorized carrier at the following address:

Letters or packages must be free from perfume, lipstick or any drawings or materials. Only the send to and from address’s are allowed, all mail received in violation of this rule will be returned to sender. No photographs of any kind will be delivered to the inmate. All incoming mail with the exception of mail from the inmates attorney will be opened prior to being delivered to the inmate.
